Twenty years from now, what will you remember from the Brisbane test match?

Will you remember all the details from the match?

I definitely won’t.

Some of my friends may remind me how Washington Sundar, the unlikeliest of the batsmen from both sides, produced the shot of the last day. As Pat Cummins, the greatest fast bowler of our times, one who rarely wavers in line and length, got one to Sundar’s head with a searing bouncer too close to the body to hook, our hero from Chennai (or Bengaluru, depending on how one wants to appropriate their fandom), swiveled on one planted foot, in a perfect Nataraj mode, smacked the ball backward of square into the stands for a six, and followed it up with a slice over gully for a four in the very next ball, which pretty much sealed the match for India.

And some other friends may remind me that even though it was Rishabh Pant who was deservingly declared the man of the match in general to everyone’s approval, how Shardul Thakur had a claim to that title as did Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj and Washington Sundar, and last but not the least, how Pujara, the monk of modern day batting barnacles, who threw his body in the frontline, did have a claim to that title too. These friends will remind me why it was a wholesome team effort.
