Wrote this song sometime in March 2003 in the aftermath of a superpower attacking a much weaker country — citing fabricated reasons.

Fast forward to Feb 2022.

With another meaningless war going on, when I listen to this song now, it feels like the song speaks to my current emotions as vividly as it did 19 years ago. The song still troubles me in ways I can’t describe even though these were my own words written by a ‘19-years-less-mature’ version of myself.

I have not shared this song in a public forum until now.

Here is the song.

And here are the words..

Dream on

The night falls
You may never know the difference
You clutch your fists
And hug your loved ones
As you crawl to the wall
Which you think is safe
Another explosion!!

Dream on
Dream on
(It’s) just another day

Dream on
Dream on
Words that you don’t just say

Soldiers in the river
Mothers in a shiver
Save my child!!
Save my child!!

Can this can this end?
No more no more pain

(Dream on)

They gather around the city center
No on really wanna be there
Decapitate
Emaciate
They trample on their victory laps
Some tremble on their door steps
(This) Can’t go on
Or can it go on?

Dream on
Dream on
It’s just another day

Dream on
Words that you don’t just say

Soldiers in the river
Mothers in a shiver
Save my child!!
Save my child!!

Can this can this end?
No more no more pain

Dream on
Dream on
Love is all you need

Dream on
Dream on
Love is what we’ll give
Love is what we’ll give

I wanted to re-record the song but decided against it because the rawness of my own emotions in this version seems to speak to me better.

[Note: The instrumental arrangement was done/programed on a Triton workstation. Recorded/mixed on Cubasis 2.0. Not much mastering effort went in..so if the sound is not optimized on your listening device, you may blame me.
But please do use a pair of headphones if you can.]
