Earlier today (15 Aug, 2020), through an insouciant instagram post, MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket.
His instagram post simply said..
“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired”
The somewhat shoddily put together video post, which is essentially a slide show, had an image of Indian cricket fans burning his photograph after India’s loss to Bangladesh in the 2007 World Cup. I mean, who would even think of adding an image like that in his retirement announcement? That’s the kind of person Dhoni is.
Yes, the slide show included an image of his run out against New Zealand from the 2019 world cup. Just shows how much that meant to him and how much that must have hurt him. The whole slide show is about 4 minutes 7 seconds long and is aptly accompanied by one of the songs he has quoted before under different circumstaces.
